Welcome back to the start of our User Group season with exciting September meetings!
You will also see user group structure changes with WMSUG and I94UG merging together.

We will have one group with 2 meeting locations (Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo) that will meet four times per year except for possibly a 1 day seminar to be held in Grand Rapids.

The two locations will be known as WMSUG - Grand Rapids and WMSUG - Kalamazoo.
Membership is $60.  Members can attend either or both the Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo meetings.  $60 is for one company/one attendee or one company/multiple attendees.

Plan for construction delays at the I94 and 131 interchange.  The MI DOT website shows construction Oct 2006 - Nov 2009 with the following:

Widen and reconstruct 2.6 miles of I-94 from west of US-131 (Exit 74) to east of Oakland Dr. (Exit 75), replace 7 bridges and reconfigure US-131 interchange. Two lanes of traffic maintained in each direction on I-94; minimum 1 lane of traffic maintained in each direction at all times on US-131 and Oakland Dr. Intermittent ramp detours at US-131.

Introducting the IBM Toolbox for Java
The IBM Toolbox for Java is a set of Java classes and tools for accessing System i data and resources from any Java environment.

1.The basic components of the Toolbox.
2.The popular components of the Toolbox in more detail.
3.How to call programs, access DB2 for i5/OS data, and access data queues in Java.
4.The advanced functionality provided by the Toolbox (such as XML and database access).
5.How a Java program can access System i data.
6.Methods to identify when the Toolbox is useful
7.Information about JTOpen (the open source version of the Toolbox).

Toolbox Micro Edition - Access System i data from a wireless device
The IBM Toolbox for Java 2 Micro Edition enables you to write Java programs that allow a variety of wireless devices, like personal digital assitants and cell phones, to directly access System i data and resources.

In this session, learn:
1.What the Toolbox ME is.
2.Terms associated with the Java 2 Micro Edition and Toolbox ME.
3.How the Toolbox ME works.
4.The components of the Toolbox ME.
5.Steps to develop a Toolbox ME application.

Biography:

Kim Button is the team leader for the IBM Toolbox for Java and JTOpen.  Her team is responsible for providing access to the data and resources on the System i from any platform that supports Java.  Prior to this role, Kim was the lead developer for the Toolbox JDBC driver and assisted with the development and testing of the XSL-FO support.  In January of 2003, Kim joined IBM Rochester as a software engineer.  She graduated from South Dakota State University with a BS dual-major in Mathematics and Computer Science.
